Welcome to Day 9
We are definitely in the home stretch.

Yesterday we recorded our voice-overs for our digital stories. Just 4 people left to record (or re-record). We also worked on our wikis and explored more web 2.0 tools. Some interesting creations were made. Make sure you take time to check out other peoples' blogs as they have posted some interesting ideas.

Today we will be working on our wikis/blogs/unit plans, finishing our digital stories, and discussing digital citizenship and New Media Literacy. If you still need to add something to the Prezi please do so. Even if it is just a little bit. Please take time to create a Youtube account if you don't already have one.

A. Project/Wiki/Blog

Continue to work on your project. I did find a way to lock a page in the wiki which stops anyone but you from editing. You can lock some pages and not others. Just click on Pages and Files and check the pages you want locked and then click on lock at the top of the page. I went in and locked everything except the Our Blogs page, the Cool Sites to Check, and the Where we Live pages as those are the ones I want you to contribute to.

Check out my KidBlog This is a blog with individual student blogs within the teacher blog. You all have accounts with your user name being your last name and your password the first three letters of your last name. ie- user name Carbon pw car.

Try to finish up as much as you can today. We will showcase them tomorrow morning.

B. New Media Literacies
Appropriation: the ability to meaningfully sample and remix media content. Being able to remix media content (and knowing when doing so is appropriate) can help you understand literary works, music, and art; it can also help lead you to a deeper understanding of copyright and cultural clashes.
remix is an alternative version of a recorded song, made from an original version. Sometimes this term is also used for alterations of media or recreation other than song (film, literature, beverages etc.). Remixing is the adoption, alteration, and recombination of pre-existing cultural texts (songs, literature, paintings, etc.) to create something new.

Appropriation enters education when learners are encouraged to dissect, transform, sample, or remix existing cultural materials.

Try a remix of the famous artist Picasso and one of your own photos by going to Picassohead

C. Digital Storytelling

We will work on putting together our stories using Movie Maker a free down load for PC's. Check out the tutorial on how to use this program. We will show case these tomorrow morning.

D. Blogging
Please take time today to write in your blog about your week. Tell us what you liked, your frustrations, and what you think you will use next year.
